About

Una llama en medio del camino... a Jr.canest blog... that's me, I drink orange juice out of a wine glass. And what about me? I'm a Bolivian Motion Designer (you know, animation, design, that kind of stuff) a lover of music, someone that wouldn't be here if it wasn't because of God's grace. PS. for awesomeness and cool videos I created Wine After Coffee. a vimeo channel.

CRC Health Group approached us at Giant Ant again to create a similar piece, this is the result and it could not have been more fun. We also had the honour to have the fantastic Diego Maclean on board which added a nice dose of sarcasm to our already sarcastic environment.

We only had two weeks so we used a lot of Live action footage and some 3D to trace and tried to make it awesome:

Remember the Interpreter’s House animation?
Well, today I thought “why not make a mind bending animated gif that loops… forever.” (and by that I mean something that might give you a headache)
sure. I said to myself.

Hi.

Designing icons is fun.

(nothing special here, have a nice day.)

This video for CRC is one of the first projects I’ve had the fun and privilege to work on while at Giant Ant, Long hours of work doing frame by frame work gave their fruit.

Client: CRC Health Group

Production: Giant Ant

CRC Health Group approached us with a script about the health and welfare of America’s youth, and the direction to get “edgy” and “gritty”. We chose a frame-by-frame style on black to give the spot a grittiness, following by a background change and an introduction of bright colours to illustrate hope.

Paper Fortress Motion Graphic Intro

I had the awesome experience to work with Stebs, the genius behind Paper Fortress. So I created this motion piece for him and I believe we are both really happy with the result. I hope you enjoy it, it felt so good to leave some keyframes out of the project and go frame-by-frame animation. A super fun project to work with with a super cool guy to make a cool video! oh yeah!

paperfortressfilms:

I recently brought on 20-year old motion graphics artist JR Canest to create a sweet & simple intro animation for Paper Fortress… I couldn’t be happier.

I am SUPER pumped to finally get this out there and soon enough put it in the videos I create!

Thanks again and again JR, I can’t wait to keep working with you in the future!

some behind the scenes work just for you:

Resonance: The Interpreter’s House (Jr.canest + David Kamp)

Resonance is the vision of SR Partners; a collaborative project with over 30 independent visual and audio designers / studios. The aim was to explore the relationship between geometry and audio in unique ways.

Animators and Audio Designers were paired up at the beginning of the project and were given the guidelines to create a piece between 12 and 20, I had the awesome opportunity to work with David Kamp.

This piece is my approach to the connection between audio and shapes, I tried to give this abstract animation a certain type of emotion, that every movement happening on screen would be more than the sole propose of look cool and sync to the sound, to do this I based this video on a section of John Bunyan’s “The Pilgrim’s Progress”, when Christian is guided trough the Interpreters House. It’s a very personal, graphic and non-descriptive explanation of this part of one of my favorite books It’s intended more to help me as the animator to give some meaning to the animation rather than narrate the story.

(If you’re curious about this you can find an extract of the book here: goo.gl/aJ91j)

It was my honor to work in the same project with such a group of (AMAZINGLY) talented people, those guys rock.

This video was for this 48 hour Youtube Cannes Young Lions Ad Contest and a friend wanted to enter, so we did. The shoot took about a couple hours in a random alley in the city of Hong Kong and i helped out with the post production of the video, which took about 6-7 hours and well, here is the result.

We had some problems at the render/uploading time so we are not sure if we entered the contest or not.

This is one of the first things I got to design at Buck, we ended replacing this for a cooler looking thing for the Buck reel intro but i just found it… so, here it is.

We did the video for the Introduction of Google eBooks here at Buck, there was certainly a lot, a hell lot of work, a lot of cutting and painting:

Even though the final result was somehow different from what expected, we had some fun times. Thomatome (Thomas Pujols) did the music.
